New Life Assembly of God in Laramie, Wyoming was birthed in its current location in 2005 when Glad Tidings Assembly of God and First Assembly of God merged together. They sold their individual church properties in Laramie and bought the property just a couple of miles outside of town, where the church is located at 4835 Fort Sanders Road. Their desire was to give people in Laramie the opportunity to hear about and find New Life in Christ.
In September of 2017, Pastors Matt & Melanie Baumgartner became the fourth lead pastors in the history of New Life Assembly of God Church. Their vision is to engage the community and demonstrate the love of God through relational ministry for the whole family that goes beyond the four walls of the church or a Sunday morning experience. We believe that God has uniquely positioned New Life Church for this moment and together we can fulfill our purpose. Many things have changed over the past 10-15 years since New Life was formed but one thing that remains is that our world needs to hear about Jesus and see God's love in action. We believe that God has called us to show Laramie that love.
WHO WE ARE
New Life Church is a group of people that believes that the local church is family where everyone is welcome and where there is a place for everyone to belong. Much like the early church in the book of Acts we love God, we love each other and we love to do life together. We belong to the Wyoming Ministry Network and the Assemblies of God USA.
New Life Church exists so that people far from God can experience New Life in Christ.
New Life Church exists so that people far from God can experience New Life in Christ and become life long followers of Jesus.
WE ARE WELCOMING: CULTURE OF HOSPITALITY
We believe that every guest is a gift from God to our Church, so each guest that we host should experience radical hospitality. We reserve a place at the table & room in our hearts, in our homes and in our church for our neighbors, strangers and newcomers. We fight to remove unnecessary barriers to God’s work in peoples lives by ensuring people can belong even before they believe.
WE ARE GENEROUS: CULTURE OF GIVING
We believe that God is a generous God so we joyfully give our time, gifts & our resources because we want more for people than we want from them. We recognize that it is because of the generous sacrifices that others made before us that we enjoy all that we have & we are committed to ensuring that those who come after us will be beneficiaries of our generosity & faithfulness with what God entrusted to us. We model generosity in our support of missions, ministries & other causes.
WE ARE EVANGELISTIC: CULTURE OF EVANGELISTIC EMPHASIS
We believe that all people, regardless of situation, background or lifestyle, matter to God so they matter to us. We proclaim and live out the gospel with love and boldness, inviting people to follow us as we follow Christ and calling people to repentance from sin, faith & new life in Christ.
WE ARE ABOUT BUILDING PEOPLE: CULTURE OF DISCIPLESHIP
We believe that God has a plan and a purpose for every life and he created us for relationship with Him. It is our desire to see people fulfill that God ordained purpose for their lives, as they become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that a healthy discipleship process includes development of Spiritual disciplines, including Prayer, Bible engagement, Spirit empowerment and the understanding that every believer is called to serve in ministry, because saved people serve people.
WE ARE COMMITTED TO REASONABLE & SUSTAINABLE EXCELLENCE: CULTURE OF EXCELLENCE
We believe that what is done with excellence honors God & inspires people. We cannot do everything, but everything we do is done to the best of our ability as unto the Lord. We understand that excellence is never an accident but it is the result of highly intentional sincere effort, intelligent devotion & skillful execution. Because God is worthy of our best every time we evaluate, review & improve even when nothing is wrong because we value what is great over what is good. We are committed to developing a culture where mediocrity is not tolerated.
WE ARE CULTURALLY RELEVANT BUT BIBLICALLY SOUND: CULTURE OF CREATIVITY
We believe that the church can engage, influence, speak to & shape culture without being shaped into cultures image. Our God is a creative God & Jesus taught by captivating means so we utilize creative methods in ministry & emphasize creative means of presenting the Gospel & a willingness to go outside the box to reach people. Our Biblical commitment doesn’t deter us from being culturally relevant but it drives us to be a voice of truth in a world that desperately needs to hear it.
WE ARE COMMUNITY & FAMILY: CULTURE OF RELATIONSHIPS
By God’s design, life is better together so we are committed to creating an atmosphere where deep relationships are forged and community happens through intentional involvement, ministry teams, honest accountability and encouraging relationships. Our desire is that New Life would be a place where people have a sense of inclusion, where they can feel safe in relationships, where they can be a part of something bigger than self and where they can find forgiveness, support and encouragement. We allow people to belong before they believe.
WE ARE ONE PART OF GOD’S WORK: CULTURE OF KINGDOM VS EMPIRE
We believe that the local church is the hope of our city & the world. Because we can accomplish more together than we can alone, we partner with likeminded ministries in our community, our state & around the world. We are committed to work with fellow Christ followers as partners in God’s Kingdom not builders of our own empire. This demonstrates our love for God & each other to a watching world.
WE ARE LARAMIE, WYOMING: CULTURE OF INVOLVEMENT
We believe that God has placed us in our community in this time & we are determined to be a part of what makes it the great community that it is. We value community involvement and relationships; & we are committed to participation in & support of our community as we find ways to give more back to our community than we ask from our community.
WE ARE HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERED: CULTURE OF PENTECOST
We believe in the empowerment of the Holy Spirit & we desire his manifest presence in our lives & in our gatherings, so we teach it, preach it & explain it when we experience it. We believe that the Holy Spirit is abused when there is too much human nature & not enough supernatural, so we steward the atmosphere in our services to prevent manipulation, so that people can experience an authentic move of God’s Spirit.
